"Mama Hail" was the daughter of Frank Inghram and his second cousin Rebecca Elizabeth Inghram. Alice was a graduate of Waynesburg College as were her parents. She was a school teacher until her marriage to Dr. William James Hail on June 19, 1913.
After marrying she and her husband went to Changsha China where he held the position of Dean of Yale in China. They had 4 children, all born in China. Elizabeth [Tibby] Inghram Quinby, twins Rebekahmary Jordan and Alicia Gordon Fabens, and a son William James Hail. She was grandmother of 12. Returned to the United States in 1926 when the Nationalist forces made staying in China perilous. They settled in Wooster Ohio where Dr. Hail held the position of head of the History Department at Wooster College.
