RUBLE MILLER, age 74, of New Market, TN (Piedmont community) passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 29, 2011 following a long battle with cancer. He was born August 25, 1936, the son of the late Dave and Carolyn Brogan Miller. He lived most all his life in the Piedmont Community, his parents moving to the area in the late 30s, early 40s. Ruble was a member of the Piedmont Baptist Church and was recently retired from the Jefferson County School Bus Garage after 43 years of faithful service. He will be respectfully remembered by school bus drivers, teachers, supervisors and many bus riders for his dedicated service and expertise in running the Bus Garage for so many years.
Ruble enjoyed fishing, cars and motorcyles. Married June 3rd, 1960, preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Virsey Sweet Miller (May 11, 2011); and son, Ricky Miller. He is survived by his granddaughter, Terria Miller, brother, T. J. (Helen) Miller and several nieces and nephews. A special thanks is extended to our church families, friends, co-workers and everyone that has been so supportive during the sickness and passing of Ruble and Virsey. Funeral service will be 7:00 p.m. Friday, July 1, 2011 at the Piedmont Baptist Church with Rev. Byron Chambers officiating. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside interment service will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning at Piedmont Cemetery.

Ruble and Virsey would be diagnosed at nearly the same time with lung cancer and both be gone before one year had passed. Ruble's brother Tom (80-years-old at the time) and wife Helen would do what they could to help. They came from Mississippi and would stay three months nearby in Cosby early on to spend time with them and to provide help with their needs ; rides to chemo and doctor appointments and to cook meals for them.

Ruble had a wonderful, distinctive laugh. I recall he called me, his Niece, "Hookle-Snook" as a child. He would give us rides on his motorcyle as young children. He was a good Uncle:)
He would live his entire life next door to his parents. Ruble's parents knew a gentleman by the name of Ruble and that is where they came up with his name.

Most of the family photos I have been able to share were passed down to Ruble from his parents. Priceless memories.

Ruble would leave the Miller lands that his father had originally purchased to his granddaughter Tara. Miller family still live there today.

Ruble, TJ and Lena were all very close, easy-going siblings. TJ visited every year with them. They all loved just sitting around visiting with one another, joking and enjoying one another's company.

In the recent years prior to Ruble's passing, TJ and brother Ruble would often spend time together fishing on Cosby Creek in Cosby. We'd all spend time visiting on the porch overlooking Cosby Creek. Dearly miss these times now with Ruble and Vircey:(

Many thanks to BKR for taking photos of Ruble and Vircey's graves. The spray of flowers with "brother" is from Ruble's brother TJ. Both Ruble and Vircey are buried to the left of Ruble's parents with their son Ricky buried to the right of his Grandparents. The cemetery being within walking distance of where the Millers lived since the early 40s.

June of 2015. Stopped by the grave with my father and sister Jill on our visit to TN.
