Eli Edelstein, 73, of 2201 E. St. of Harlingen, died Thursday at Retama Manor Nursing Home in Harlingen.
A native of Kalvaea, Lithuania, he had been a Brownsville resident since 1925 before moving to Mercedes in 1928. A retired furniture merchant, he was a veteran of World War II, having volunteered at the age of 44. He had lived in Harlingen for the past several years.
He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Minsky of Corpus Christi; and Mrs. Rose Riskind of Eagle Pass; two brothers, Louis Edelstein of Hallandale, Florida; and David Edelstein of Mission, numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday at 11 am at Darling Mouser Chapel with interment in Hebrew Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Philip Chaleff, Ben Edelstein, Leroy Lewin, Morris Riskind, Ruben Riskind and Sol Yudesis.
Friends of the family are making donations to the Temple Beth EL of Brownsville.
