Buried in the cemetery with his grandson, Francis H. Gruver 1878-1883.

Believed to be the son of William Gruber, who died in 1841 in Northampton County, Pennsylvania and was married although not legally to Abraham's mother, Mary "Maria" Oberholser/Oberholtzer.

William's Orphan Court records lists his children from his first and second marriage. In the records are listed, William's children from his second marriage, Mary , married to George Buzzard, Sarah, married to Jacob Beysher/Pysher and Abraham. William's marriage to Mary being deemed invalid as she was still married to her first husband when she married William, although William's first wife was also alive.

Abraham married Anna Catharine Shnyder on 15 Dec 1833 in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania in the First United Church of Christ. Anna was alive in the 1900 census and living with their son, Herman, plus the Kansas state census of 1905 but her burial & death date is unknown. Kansas Historical Society could not find any record of her death for me in the Montgomery County death records where she was last living with her son, Herman.

They had four known children, William Ferdinand Gruver/Gruber, born June 4, 1834 and baptized August 31, 1834 in the Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Upper Mount Bethel, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. His sponsors were , William and Mary Gruber, which I believe were his grandparents since both were still alive. In the 1850 census, Abraham is living with his wife, Anna and two children, Herman and Louisa in Liberty, Montour County, Pennsylvania. In the 1870 census, Abraham & Anna are living in Easton, Northampton County, Pennsylvania. By 1880, Anna is living with their son, Herman in in Plum, Phillips County, Kansas and a widow. I have not found any additional information on Louisa at this point, although Anna lists she was the mother of two children, one alive in the 1900 census, although records show three children, so possibly Louisa died as a child and their son William, had passed away in 1880. The fourth child is believed to be Samuel Gruver, found in the First United Church of Christ records of Easton, Pa. He is listed as Samuel Beisher in these records with his parents as Abraham & Ann Catharine Beisher. In this record it appears a number of the Beisher family relatives had children baptized on Oct. 26, 1837, all listed together and I believe a mistake was made in the last name listed for Abraham & Ann Catharine.
