After retirement he enjoyed traveling, fishing, golfing and his family. He also enjoyed being a movie and TV extra and had appeared in X files The Movie. He was a member of the San Pedro Elk's Lodge 966 for 50 years, was past president of Men's and Boy's Apparel Club of Los Angeles, and a member of the "Navy Veteran's Gang of Twelve". He played the saxophone and clarinet in his band (Johnny Crisa and his band) for many years.
John Crisa passed away peacefully December 30, 2004 in Long Beach. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen, 3 daughter, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandsons. Also surviving are his brothers Sam and Joe, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many wonderful friends.
A funeral Mass was offered on Friday, January 7, 2005 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Long Beach. Interment followed at Green Hills Memorial Park with McNerney's Mortuary handling the arrangements
