Doris B. Perkins, age 94 - lifelong resident of Elwood – died November 9, 2005 at Tipton Hospital Extended Care in Tipton following an extended illness. She was born December 15, 1910 in Tipton County, Indiana. She last retired in 1968 from Stevens Metal Fabricators in Elwood after 9 years of service. She had also formerly worked for 10 years at Guide Lamp Corporation in Anderson, 6 months at the New Orleans Metal Co., 11 years at Ray Brothers Canning company, and the Burlington Railroad Office. She was a 1927 graduate of Elwood High School. She was a member of the West Street Christian Church in Tipton and formerly attended the First United Methodist Church in Elwood. She was a former member of the Elwood Lady Lions, Elwood Lady Elks, the Elwood Country Club, the Tipton Concert Society, and the Tipton Republican Women's Club. She was also active in Anderson and Elwood Bowling Leagues and loved playing bridge. She also enjoyed fishing with her family in earlier years.

Survivors include: Nephew – E.P. and wife Virginia Severns of Kokomo; Niece – Diane and husband Tony Farage of Grand Rapids, MI; 4 Great Newphews; 4 Great Great Nephews; and One Great Niece. She was preceded in death by: Parents – Owen F. and Carrie Anna (Sperry) Beeson; Husband whom she married April 6, 1947 and who died September 10, 1976 – Joseph A. Perkins; Sister – Barbara Beeson Severns; and Brother – Fred Beeson.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 10:30 AM Saturday, November 12, 2005 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood. Burial will take place in the Aroma Cemetery in Aroma. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM Saturday morning prior to the service. Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the West Street Christian Church, 132 North West Street, Tipton, IN 46072.
