The Daily Mining Gazette of Houghton, Michigan (Tuesday, November 27, 1956, Page 2) reported:
"Mrs. William Mills, Widely Known Here, Is Taken by Death. Mrs. William Mills, 83, a well known resident of Lake Linden, died early this morning at the Memorial Hospital following a lengthy illness.
"She was born in Cornwall, England on Dec. 23, 1872. She came to Lake Linden about 60 years ago, residing here since that time.
"She was a member of the Methodist Church of Lake Linden.
"She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. W.J. Greb of Mobile, Ala.; a son Morley of Lake Linden; a sister Mrs. Charles Toms of Lead, South Dakota, three grandchildren, three great grandchildren.
"The remains have been removed to the Pearce Funeral Home where friends may call after 7 o'clock this evening.
"Funeral services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 2 o'clock with the Rev. John Grenfell of the Methodist Church officiating and the remains will be placed in the Lake Linden receiving vault."
The Daily Mining Gazette in its November 28, 1956 issue (page 6) further noted:
""Mrs. Mills Rites Thursday. Funeral services for Mrs. William Mills will be conducted from the Pearce Funeral Home tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. John Grenfell officiating and the remains will be placed in the Lake Linden receiving vault."
Annie (Williams) Mills was buried in the Maple Hill Cemetery in Lake Linden, where she rests in the Mills family lot near her husband and children Gladys and Charles Morley Mills. Her gray granite headstone reads:
