Monday of this week in Los Angeles the widow of one of Prescott's early newspaper editors died. She was Mrs. Eva Estelle Martin, whose husband, J. C., now dead 15 years, came here as a reporter from the San Francisco Chronicle and bought out the old Arizona Miner.

The Martins in 1892 erected the fine residence at 125 North Pleasant street which now is owned and occupied by Mrs. Nellie Ling. In 1903 Mr. and Mrs. Martin left Prescott for the coast to make their home.

Surviving children are Mrs. Irene Hildreth of Prescott; Mrs. Edna Wakely, Tulsa, Okla.; the twins, Jay C. Martin of San Bernardino, and Mrs. Hazel Volstedt, Los Angeles; and Miss Zilpha Martin, Los Angeles, with whom Mrs. Martin lived. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mattie (H.D.) Aitken of this city and Mrs. Frances Mae Stever of Reno, Nev.

Mrs. Martin was a native of Adrian, Mich., member of the Methodist Episcopal church and while residing here was a member of the choir of the denomination's church on North Marina street, also once belonged to the Monday club of Prescott and to the Order of Eastern Star.
