Born April 1, 1922 in Red Hill, she was the daughter of the late Aubrey and Gracie Canody Gibson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rosser Tilton Pugh; her siblings, Joseph Gibson, Ollie Gibson, Lamont Gibson, Gertrude Wood and Evelyn West-Lynch.
Mrs. Pugh was a member of the Park Street Christian Church. She received multiple awards as a volunteer for Project C.A.R.E. with JABA as well as the Senior Center in Charlottesville and Mineral. She also received certification in Home Health Care. In addition, she loved crocheting, quilting, making crafts and selling them at craft shows. She took her skills to the next level by completing a course in Doll Technology. Mrs. Pugh retired from the University of Virginia Hospital and formerly worked for Jacobson Pajama Factory and Ix Silk Mill.
Surviving are her children, Gene Pugh and his wife, Mercia, of Barboursville, Virginia Clements of Charlottesville, Cecelia Miller and her husband, Charlie, of Charlottesville, Yvonne Pugh and Valdemar Prince of St. Croix, Virgin Islands; her sisters, Annie Douglas, Lucile Samuels, and Marie White; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Her motto was to never let a kind deed go undone. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be missed greatly by family and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of The Laurels of Charlottesville for all the support and love they gave over the course of her stay.

A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at Hill and Wood Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Larry Hastings officiating.
Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens.
