Margaret I. Kotz, 84, a former resident of 1728 SW Second St.,
Faribault, died Saturday, March 28 at the Faribault Manor Health Care
Center. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday at 10:30
a.m. in St. Lawrence Catholic Church, the Rev. James R. Murphy
officiating. Interment will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Visitation
will be at the Parker-Kohl Funeral Home Monday from 2 to 9 p.m. and on
Tuesday until the services. The St. Lawrence Rosary Society and the
St. Ann's Society will recite the rosary at 3 p.m., parish vigil
prayers will be recited at 4:30 p.m., and the Faribault Eagles
Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the
funeral home. Margaret I. Becker, the daughter of Nick and Barbara
Strouth Becker, was born on Oct. 3, 1902, in Bridgewater Township,
rural Rice County. She married Mathias Kotz on Oct. 3, 1922, in St.
Lawrence Church. The couple farmed for many years in Wells Township
before moving to Faribault in 1966. Mr. Kotz died on Aug. 21, 1986.
She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Francis (Eileen) LaCanne of
Faribault; five sons, William and Ralph Kotz of Bakersfield, Calif.,
Harold and Jerome Kotz of Northfield, and Roman Kotz of Farmington; 20
grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and other relatives. She was
also preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Mathew,
Alfred and William Becker.
