Thomas is the first of eight generations to be buried in the Sanford Cemetery as of 1998.
Thomas and his wife Sarah Thomasen were married in England, this is where they joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. They had one daughter, Mary Ann born in 1851, and a son, Richard born in 1853 and died in 1854. Thomas and Sarah and Mary Ann immigrated to America in 1855 in their quest to join the saints in Utah. While in Missouri Sarah gave birth to a stillborn son and died March 6, 1855. Thomas and Mary Ann were left alone to make the treck to Utah. There he met Jane Jewkes who became his second wife. They were married Nov. 25, 1855, in Cedar City, Utah. Jane had lost a daughter Mary Jane Price in 1854, and had a son Richard who died in 1856.
Thomas and Jane had nine children together plus his daughter Mary Ann making ten living children. They moved to Sanford, Colorado in the 1880's, as most of their children did. Mary Ann married Lewis Anderson who was the first President of the Manti Temple, they stayed in Utah.
