Helen Kurt passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, June 21, 2011. She was born October 5, 1937 in Grenada, MN to John and Helen Miller.
She attended schools in Grenada and Fairmont, MN before going to Minnesota State College in Mankato to earn a degree in Education. After teaching in Minnesota and Iowa she moved to Tulsa in 1982. Here she received a Masters Degree in Pastoral Studies.
Helen is survived by her husband John and their four children, John Johnson (Teresa) of Broken Arrow, Stephen Johnson (Rachel) of Tucson, AZ, Dana Moraniec (David) of Ankeny, IA and Greta Bukovitch (Joe) of Rock Hill, MO, special granddaughter Pallas Johnson of the home and ten more grandchildren and her sisters Joanne Malherek (Terry) of Caledonia, MN and Linda Nawrocki (Jack) of Mankato, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter Jan Schnelz.
She was an active member of Meadowbrook CC WGA, Resurrection Parish and numerous bridge groups. She will be missed by all.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Sunday, June 26 at Fitzgerald Southwood Colonial Chapel followed by the Rosary at 7 PM. The funeral Mass will be Monday, June 27th at 10 AM at Church of the Resurrection.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Francis Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
