Dean Whitney, The Register's Iowa News Service, Radcliffe, IA - The Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa, 30 July 1987, Thursday, page 25 - Dean Whitney, 62, of Radcliffe died of cancer Tuesday at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today at St. John's United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery in rural Radcliffe. Mr. Whitney was born in Maxwell. He was a retired custodian for the Radcliffe School and had also been Radcliffe postmaster from 1950 to 1980. He was a member of the American Legion Post 317, the Radcliffe Fire Department and St. John's United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Shirley; a daughter, Mary Whitney of West Des Moines; a son, Scott of Ames; a sister, Marveljune Malone of Des Moines; and a brother, Richard of Des Moines. Boeke Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
