Mrs. Kathryn Mansell, 63. of Medina, a former Zanesville school teacher, died of a heart attack in Cleveland Clinic Hospital at 6 a.m. Friday (March 18). She was born in Zanesville March 31, 1902, daughter of Charles E. Shryock a former Zansesville newspaperman who served as state senator and Harriet Frazer Shryock. A member of Medina United Church of Christ Congregational Church, she was a active worker in the women's society of the church, a member of Medina County YWCA, and an honorary board member of the Eastern Star, DAR, Medina Business and Professional Women, and Medina Community Hospital Women's Auxillary of which she was past president. Active in Medina County political circles, she was representative for the 14th congressional district as Republican state committee women. She attended Muskingham College and was graduated from Ohio State University where she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Following graduation she taught in the Zanesville school system for 4 years before joining Red Path Chautauqua Circuit, a traveling company which presented concerts, operettas, and plays. Surviving are her husband Dr. Rolland Lynn Mansell, a Medina surgeon and general practitioner, a sister Mrs. Lucy Slack of Lake Worth Fla, 2 brothers Harry Shryock of Elmhurst, Ill., and Charles of South Pasadina, Calif. The body was taken to Waite Funeral Home in Medina. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at United Church of Christ Congregational Church with Rev. Truman Whitaker officiating. The Times Recorder (Zanesville, Ohio)
