Robert Benton "Bob": Born April 20, 1923 at Slaton, Texas, went to school at Wilson, Texas and Slaton, Texas and graduated from Hobbs, New Mexico High School in 1941. He served in the United States Navy, rising through the ranks from enlisted to Warrant Officer and Commissioned Officer until 1971 when he retired as a Lieutenant. He died on July 18, 1984 in Orlando, Florida of a stroke and was buried at sea.

He fought in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War and had lived all over the world as the navy took him there. He married Gladys Clark about 1948. He and Gladys had three boys: Robert Benton, Jr., Ralph and Raymond and he raised Gladys' daughter Gladys Ann as his daughter although he never formally adopted her.
