I had known Jean and her family for 22 years. I regret that we did not keep in touch over the years, but thats life I suppose. My brother and I called her 'Auntie Jean'.
I have many happy memories of Jean over the years that we did keep in touch.
We lived in a farming community, and Jeans Husband Alf worked with my dad and two other men, Sadly now all passed away. In those days, farm work was poorly paid and we had a lot of hard times.
Jean worked as a housekeeper for the farm manager and his wife, and would call in on the way up on her way to work. I used to look forward to Jean coming round we would all have a gossip as we did then. Auntie Jean was special to me, I miss her and think back to the times we had fun.
Its so sad for us who knew her, yet a happy release for Jean who missed Sue and Alf so much. Only Jean's Son Andrew is left to carry the burden of sadness now that his immediate close family have passed away.
Jean died peacefully in her sleep.
