Severiano was born in Vanderbilt, prior to his family moving to the Corpus Christi, where he was a
resident most of his life. He attended the Ella Barnes Jr High School. Severiano enlisted in the 15 Marines May 1967, at a San Antonio Recruiting Office.
Severiano arrived in Vietnam 21 October 1967, where he assigned to India Company, 3rd Battalion,
9th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. India Company came under attack by hostile forces using automatic weapons, 60mm and 82mm mortars at approximately 1317H, while providing security for bull dozers and tractors, west of C-2 Bridge and 4 kilometers southeast of Con Thien (Hill 158). The lead platoon moved to the right flank and assaulted the enemy position receiving heavy weapons fire, mortar fire and sniper fire. The Marines losses were 12 killed and 15 wounded during the fighting with 20 NVA killed and several wounded. Severiano died as a result of a gunshot wound to the head from sniper fire.
Severiano was single and served his country for 1 year and 16 days and KIA #28,851.
He had been in Vietnam for 7 months and 10 days.
Mrs. Amador who had been seriously ill was brought from the hospital for the funeral. The US flag draped over the casket was presented to her.
The GI Forum honor guard Marine pallbearers carried his casket from St Joseph's Church to Rose Hill Memorial Park for burial.
Survived by his mother, Ramona Amador, his sister; Mary and brother, Joe all of 3001 Ruth Street, Corpus Christi, Texas and other sisters, Janie Cruz, Alice Deases and Lilly of Corpus Christi and sister, Mary Silva of
Oakland, California.
His father, Daniel Amador deceased.
