Ross Ellis Barnes was born in Sibley, Iowa February 10, 1895 and in 1904 came to Wyoming with his parents who settled south of Lusk. He passed away at his ranch home April 21 from an apparent heart attack after being ill for only one day.

Before World War I, Mr. Barnes took up a homestead in the Walker Creek community. After serving in the war he returned to the area; and was in early-day roundups for the Tom Bell Cattle Company being a well-known cowboy throughout the entire area.

On April 10, 1921, he was married to Phoebe Shrader in Casper.

He was a member of the Moose Lodge, and was a life member of the Wyoming Pioneer Association.

Besides his wife, Phoebe, he is survived by a daughter, Irene Wallis and her husband Bob; four grandchildren, Richard, Bonnie, Robert Alden and Matilda Louise, all of the family ranch.
