Elizabeth Oakley (Crocheron) Denyse was the daughter of Hon. Jacob6 and Mary (Oakley) Crocheron. She married 8 February 1820/1 Denyse Denyse, Jr. son of Denyse and Mary (Seabury) Denyse. He was born about 1793 and died 6 July 1861. Denyse, Denyse, Sr. was born in Brooklyn and removed to Staten Island about 1800. He was a descendant of Teunis Nyssen, the first Denyse in America. Denyse, Denyse, Jr. served as an officer in the Mexican War and was well known on Staten Island. He was one of the charter members of the Old Richmond Lodge, Free and Accepted Masons. He carried on an extensive business at Tompkinsville, Staten Island.
