Tom (T.J.) Maddox, 87, former longtime resident of the Pinhook Community passed away Friday, June 29, 2012 in Legend's Healthcare.
He was born on November 29, 1924 in Medicine Mound, Texas a son of Benjamin Franklin and Nettie Viola Hightower Maddox. He was a graduate of the Medicine Mound High School, a member of the Woodland United Methodist Church, a member of the Isom Masonic Lodge # 1242 A.F. & A.M. in Borger receiving his 50 year pin in 1998.
He retired from J.M. Huber in Borger and after moving back to Lamar County retired from Campbell Soup Co. He was a supervisor for both companies. He married Wanda Colleen Gray on July 21, 1943 in Stinnett, Texas.
Survivors include his spouse Wanda Colleen Maddox of Paris; grandchildren Darrell Bruce and wife Sally of Paris, Christi Bruce of Paris, Doug Janeway and wife Barbara of Flower Mound, Barry Janeway and wife Kim of St. Lucie, Fl., Kim Maddox of Purcell, OK, and Jennifer Ritchey and husband Sam of Sulphur Springs; 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren; brothers Stanley J. Maddox and wife Edna of Blossom and Bob Maddox and wife Kay of Carrolton; sister Mary Ann Harris of Burleson.
He was preceded in death by his children Linda Gail Maddox Barber, Wanda Jo Maddox Janeway, and Larry Bob Maddox; a great granddaughter Ellen Ashley Bruce; siblings Linus Maddox, Ted Maddox, John Maddox, Jack Maddox, Ken Maddox, Ruby Collins Goodnight, Cecile Grange, Frank Maddox, and Porter Maddox.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 3, 2012 in the chapel of Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Irvin officiating. Burial will follow in the Woodland Cemetery with Masonic graveside services.
