Dies of Injuries in Elevator Accident
Amon Worthington, 57, of Edwardsville, died yesterday afternoon in St. Margaret's hospital from a skull fracture which he suffered Thursday at the Santa Fe A grain elevator near Turner, Kan., where he was a spout operator.
No one saw the accident and he did not regain consciousness to relate what had happened. He had been employed about five years at the elevator, which is now operated by the Tex-O-Kan Flour Mills company.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Katty Worthington, of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Blunt, Turner, Kan.; five sons, David Worthington, Waterloo, Ia.; Everett Worthington, 2041 South Fourteenth; Paul Worthington, Clarence Worthington and Alvin Worthington, all of Turner; a brother, Edward Worthington, Pikeville, Tenn.; and a half-brother, Ross Cos, Washington, D. C.
Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock tomorrow in the Turner Baptist church. Burial will be in Maple Hill cemetery.
