Oscar married 30 Mar 1876 in Sangamon Co., IL to Minerva Jane Stevenson. Minerva affectionately called him "Os". They were the parents of ten children: James Robert, David Arthur, Sarah Deborah, Oscar Steven Milton, Charles Seifert, Thomas Perry, Hughy, Ray Allen, Newton Preston, and Millie Ethel.
Oscar was a farmer in Salisbury, IL. He was small in stature, and enjoyed singing. He is remembered for frequently raising his voice in praise of God. During the last several years of his life, Oscar suffered with cancer of the nose. He died 2 June 1939.
