She was the daughter of Frank Oatney and Rachel Gibbony. She married Paul Raymond Upp on May 16, 1923 in Fairfield County, Ohio.

Doris M. Upp, 96, Lancaster, passed away Friday, March 14, 1997, at Americare Homestead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a member of the Grace United Church of Christ and the LOTRUSE class of the church.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Richard Evans of Lancaster; sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Judy Upp of Lancaster, and Roger and Janet Upp of Pickerington; 10 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Margaret Oatney and Dorothy Hill, both of Lancaster, and Roberta Oatney of Rochester, Ind.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Upp; parents Frank and Rachel Oatney; a sister, Florence Hampson; brothers, Harold, Bernard and John Oatney; and grandsons Rick and Tom Evans.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday at Halteman-Fett and Dyer Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert C. Tussing officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. today at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions be made to Grace United Church of Chrst in her memory.
