Mr. Herbert Mack Dobbs, age 67, of Chatsworth, Georgia, departed this life Saturday Morning, July 2, 2011 at the Murray Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Mack was born July 21, 1943 in Scott County, Tennessee, a son of the late McKinley and Magdalene Crowley Dobbs. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Martin.

Mack loved to stay busy, was very outgoing, never met a stranger, could never tell anyone no and was always willing to help someone in need. He loved life.
Mack proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. Mack worked as an electrician at the Mohawk/Galaxy plant in Chatsworth.

Mack was a member of the 1974 graduating class of EMT's at Dalton Vocational School of Practical Nurses, which was the first class of EMT's in the State and had the honor of being Badge #797. He was one of founding members of the Murray County Rescue Squad, a member of the Chatsworth Lions Club and a member of Homeland Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years, Mary Jo of the residence; sons and daugter-in-law, Jody and Cynthia Dobbs of Chatsworth, GA, Matthew Dobbs of Dalton, GA; daughter, Donna Hill of Dalton, Ga; grandchildren, Cody Dobbs, Chance Hudson, Brianna Hill and Scott Hill; brothers and sister-in-law, Dean Dobbs of Mississippi, Bill and Sheila Dobbs of Chatsworth, GA, Jim and Sherri Dobbs of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Frank Deitsch of Kentucky; his cats whom he referred to as his grand cats, Monteque, Salem, BB, Jake, Jasmine and Pandora; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services to celebrate the life of Mr. Mack Dobbs will be held Tuesday evening, July 5, 2011 at 6 p.m. at the Homeland Baptist Church in Chatsworth, GA with Reverend Harold Poteet and Steve Noland officiating. He will be laid to rest at Harrison Chapel Cemetery with Cody Dobbs, Gary Welch, Chance Hudson, ____ serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Chatsworth Lions Club and members of the Murray County Rescue Squad.

The family will receive friends at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m. Monday and at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Homeland Baptist Church.
