Mrs. Sephrona Bertrand Gegoux, 93, died at her farm home on the Clayton - Cape Vincent road at 12 Wednesday noon after an illness of several months resulting from pneumonia which was contracted last winter.
She was born in the twon of Cape Vincent, Jan. 16, 1838 and for the past 57 years had resided at her home near this village.
She was married Feb. 2, 1863 to Francis X. Gegoux of Garden Island, Ont., and there were several children born to the union. Mrs. Gegoux was a member of the St. Mary's church in this village and had been active in church affairs until the time of her illness.
Surviving are two sons, Edward, of the town of Cape Vincent, and Frank of Fulton; five daughters, Mrs. George Prime, Phoenix; Mrs. Bert Ashcraft, Clayton; Mrs. James Allen, Three Mile Bay; Mrs. Charles Gardner, Fulton; and Mrs. Elmer Kellogg, Clayton.
Funeral services are to be held Friday at 9 at the St. Mary's church this village with the Rev. Father George. E. Raccette, officiating. Interment will be made in the family plot at St. Mary's cemetery here.
