Funeral services for Mrs. Allie Watkins widow of the late John R. Watkins, cashier of the Exchange Bank for many years, were held this afternoon at 3 o'clock from the Joiner Funeral Home. Mrs. Watkins died Tuesday night at 10:15 o'clock in the Ball Sanitarium in Excelsior Springs. She had been in failing health for over a year and was recently taken to Excelsior Springs for treatment.
Mrs. Watkins was a native of Ray County. She was the daughter of the late Thomas A. and Lucy (Covington) Duval, pioneer residents of Ray County. She was born on a farm three miles north of Richmond, Jan. 10, 1864.
She was married to John R. Watkins, also of Richmond April 26, 1893. Mr. Watkins died Feb. 1, 1926.
She is survived by one son, John Albert Watkins, of Richmond; three grandchildren, John Albert Watkins, jr., William Leslie Watkins and Anne Boone Watkins, all of Richmond.
Mrs. Watkins united with the Baptist church in early girlhood. She had been an active member of the church since that time.
She attended the Richmond public schools and also attended school at Camden Point, near Liberty, Mo.
Funeral sevices were conducted by the Rev. W. E. Davis, pastor of the Richmond Baptist church. Burial was made in the Watkins cemetery east of Richmond.
Pallbearers were: Ray Seward, Joseph Watkins, W. F. Yates, H. R. Wilson, Dr. J. P. Gill and Newton Hamacher.
