Peter worked for Cantor Fitzgerald as a equity trader and was from Hoboken, New Jersey. He was killed in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

His name can be found on Panel N-26 of the National September 11 Memorial in Manhattan, New York City, New York.

This had been a year of dizzying change for Peter A. Apollo. Last month he became a full-fledged securities trader at Cantor Fitzgerald. Two weeks ago his older sister, Denise, was married. Next Sunday he was to turn 27, and on Nov. 16, he and Debbie Johnson were to be married in West Orange, N.J. “He was having the time of his life,” said his mother, Cecile Apollo. “He loved his friends, loved his job, and he loved Debbie.”

Mrs. Apollo said she had found some solace in reports that her son died huddling with co-workers on the 104th floor of World Trade Center. Employees in the company’s Connecticut office had an open line through a “squawk box,” and said thick smoke rising through the stairwells had prevented Mr. Apollo and his co-workers from fleeing. Long before the building collapsed, they told Mrs. Apollo, the voices faded and then ceased altogether. Mrs. Apollo said she believed her son died before the building fell.

“At least that’s what I’m hoping,” she said. “I’m trying to find comfort in the fact that he was with the people he loved.”

Date of Birth: September 23, 1974

Peter was having the time of his life. Peter was about to start a new life: he was soon to be relocating to Cantor’s Shrewsbury office, he was engaged to be married to Debbie Johnson on November 16, and he was talking about buying a home in Monmouth County, NJ. Peter loved fishing, golf, football, skiing, horses, cooking, and summers down the shore. He was always on the go-every weekend he had people to see and things to do. His father always said to him “peter, don’t you ever relax”. That was the person he was, always living life to its fullest. Peter was a very optimistic person-always positive and solving any issues that arised. He love to read “self help” books. He was a strong believer in not letting little things bother him. In his 26 years of life, Peter set goals and achieved them: college graduate of University of South Carolina, promising career as an Equities Trader, family values, love of life, multiple hobbies and sporting interests, and many friends. His family and friends will miss his warm smile, happiness, and determination in life. Peter will always remain in our hearts forever. He will always be our hero.

Peter was born September 23, 1974 in Tinton Falls, NJ, the only son of Peter Apollo Jr and his wife Cecile. He graduated high school at the Red Bank Catholic High School where he was on the football team and also graduated at the University of North Carolina, class of 96 with a degree of Bachelor of Science In Business Administration, Marketing and Management. His Pi Kappa Phi fraternity brothers described him as a positive, caring, and sincere person who was always willing to lend a hand when needed and he always wanted to help them make good choices.
Peter is also survived by two sisters, Lisa and Denise, who he cherished very much.
He loved the beach, skiing, fishing, and sports. He made the football team in high school but was too small to play and only got a few chances on the field but he showed up to every practice and every game. He told his mother “You have to think big and dream big” and he did. That dedication followed him into his career at Cantor Fitzgerald where he was known as the first to show up in the morning and the last to leave in the evening, even having his lunches at his desk.
Peter was engaged to be married in November of 2001 to his fiance Debbie Johnson and they planned to buy a house in Colts Neck and start a family.
