Not much is known about Martha's past history, but at age 41, Martha was listed on the 1850 census living in Moses Fallwell's household as Martha Williams with a 5-year-old daughter, Margaret Jane Williams. Also, another sister, Mahala Alford (age 36), was living in Moses' home at the same time. In the 1860 Census for District 8, Marshall County Tennessee, Moses and Martha were listed as husband and wife. They had a daughter together, Sarah L. Fallwell, who married Bradley Kimbro Sheffield.

Name: Mises Falwell [Moses Falwell]
Spouse: Martha Williams
Marriage Date: 14 Apr 1855
Marriage County: Marshall

After Moses' death in 1868, Martha (age 60), now a widow, apparently moved to a nearby town with her youngest daughter, Sarah (age 15). They are found in the 10th District of Bedford County, Tennessee on 1870 Census. In 1880, Martha (age 72), is list on the census records for the same district and county. She is still living with Sarah and her family, as Sarah is now married to Bradley Kimbro Sheffield and has four young children. Marshall County was formed in 1836, from a part of Bedford County. Marshall County is adjacent to 10th District of Bedford County on its western boundary. Martha's new home was only about 10 miles away from the home where she and Moses lived. It is not known if she sold their farm when she left there and moved into town. At that time the town was named Rover, Tennessee, but is now named Unionville.

*Note: Possibly, Martha (Alford) Williams Fallwell and Mahala Alford were sisters and I believe they were both sisters of Moses' 1st wife Sarah Sally Alford. I have not found anything to prove this as yet. However, she did name her only daughter with Moses the same name as Moses' 1st wife - Sarah. Also, I do not know for positive that Martha is buried in the same cemetery as Moses. This is an assumption on my part. If anyone knows for positive where Martha is buried, I will correct this. It's possible she could be buried in the Sheffield Cemetery where their daughter, Sarah Sheffield, is buried. Also, Moses' 1st wife, Sarah, is buried in the Sheffield Cemetery.
