"Leander Johnson born Aug 23, 1856 D. Feb. 1933. He married Martha Esserine Feb. 17, 1880. She was daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Esserine and was born Dec 3, 1855 d. Apr. 11, 1932. They had no children but Vosie Southworth (Aunt Martha's niece) made her home with them from 2 yrs old until she married Rev. Fred Hessler in 1907. Vosie, born Aug. 12, 1885. She went to the Nunda Training School and taught school 2 or 3 yrs.
Uncle Lill worked by the mo. or at home and after they were married they lived with his folks and worked the farm until after mother and father were married then rented or worked on shares the Torey farm on the hill 3 mi. west until after grandfather died then they bought the farm and paid off the other heirs and lived on or let it on shares as long as they lived. They bought a place on Franklin St. Dansville, NY and when my folks moved to Dansville in 1916 on their place they moved back on the farm and after my folks bought the Sandford place on same St. they moved back and died there. Fred and Vosie moved quite a little until he retired as minister then they lived on one of their places in Dansville They had 4 children Irwin, Clarabell, Even and Winifred."

Leander L. Johnson
Dansville--Funeral services for Leander L. Johnson 76, who died at his home in Franklin Street Saturday, were held Monday afternoon from the Free Methodist Church. Rev. Horace W. Fish officiating. Internment was made in Greenmount cemetery. Mr Johnson had been a resident of this village for a number of years having moved here from West Sparta, where he was engaged in farming.

He is survived by one sister, Mrs. Nellie Hartman of Dansville, and a foster daughter, Mrs. Fred Hessler of North Chili, and several nieces and nephews.
