SAMUEL GRIMES
Services were Monday at Temple Emanuel, 51 Grape St., for Samuel Grimes, 93, of 1223 Race St. pioneer Denver businessman, who died at Rose Hospital Saturday after a long illness.
Grimes was general manager and founder of the Grimes Pipe and Steel Co.
Burial was in Temple Emanuel cemetery with Olinger Mortuary in charge.
Grimes was born Oct. 16, 1870, in Minsk, Poland. He came to the United States and to Denver in 1888.
He was married to Anna Karsh in Denver in 1899. She died in 1946. In 1947 he married Flora Baruck, who survives. Other survivors include three sons, Max, David and Joseph and two daughters, Miss Polly Grimes and Mrs. Dorothy Glett, all of Denver; a sister Mrs. Sadie Schecter, of Denver; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Grimes was a founder of what is now known as Children's Asthmatic Research Institute and Hospital in Denver, was an early board member of National Jewish Hospital, was one of the earliest members of Congregational Emanuel, and was a founder of Green Gables Country Club.
Members of the family suggest that friends who wish may contribute to their favorite charity.
