Adrian Cook, O.S.B.
A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, 1998, in Mt. Angel Abbey Church in St. Benedict for Brother Adrian Cook, O.S.B., who died June 13 at age 53. The Office of Vigils of the Dead will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 16 also in the church.
Brother Adrian was born July 22, 1944, in Broken Bow, Neb., and was first known as Sidney Cook. He was raised in Morrison and Aurora, Colo. He was a musician in the Air Force Band, worked in the theater in various capacities, was a resident caregiver in a home for the developmentally disabled and was a computer programmer, in various places throughout the country.
He was affiliated with St. Andrew's Abbey in Valyermo, Calif., before moving to Mt. Angel in 1987 to enter the monastery. He was received into the novitiate in 1988, made his simple profession in 1989 and his solemn profession in 1992. He served as music minister, playing flute in seminary liturgies and was cantor and in the choir. He was also assistant tailor in the monastery.
Interment will be in Mt. Angel Abbey. Arrangements are by Unger Funeral Chapels in Silverton. Thomas John Corbett.
