William and John's families moved to Gadsen, Fla. in 1845, living there until 1853 when they moved by wagon to Texas, settling about four miles West of Edom in 1854. William was a carpenter and John Wesley was a farmer.
John Wesley and three older sons enlisted in the Confederate Army; the oldest son, John Felin was killed in Tennesee during the war.
