John was the son of Mary Ann (Mellen) and Chester Dutton. He was born in Wolcott, NY Oct 26, 1858. He married Clara M Wilson in Grand Rapids, MI in 1878. They later moved to Sibley Twp, in Cloud County, KS. He was preceeded in death by his wife and a son. He is survived by two sons, Thomas and William, two daughters Mary Wilson and Julia Poore.
His wife Clara was originally buried in the Dutton Family Cemetery. When John died, Clara was moved beside him.
