James "Jim" Cornwell, 82, fof Franklin, entered into rest at 11 p.m. July 5, 2011, at a Franklin nursing home.

The Simpson County native was a memeber of Franklin Presbyterian Church, a retired employee of Potter & Brumfield and a former employee of the Franklin Country Club. He loved sports and was an avid University of Kentucky Fan. He was a referee for Kentucky high school football and baseball and was commissioner of the Franklin-Simpson Babe Ruth League. He was a son of the late Henry Cornwell and Velma Rutherford Cornwell. He was preceded in death by a sister Margaret Eubanks; and a brother, Marshall Cornwell.

Funeral was today at Booker-Gilbert Funeral Home, with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Nell Cornwell; two sons, Bobby Cornwell and his wife, Sandra, of Franklin, and Jimmy Cornwell of Ledbetter; a sister Betty Bush of Franklin; six grandchildren, Candie Huddleston and Michael, Stephanie, Kyle, Ethan and Evan Cornwell; a great-grandson, Dylan Cornwell; and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Huddleston.
