Loristeen "Teena" Tennant was born on August 8, 1920, in Fairview, West Virginia. She was the second child born to Henry H. and Nola Storey. While growing up, Teena enjoyed spending time with her family at their home on "Jesse's Run." She also loved traveling, sewing, shopping, and fashion. She worked at Westinghouse and later at a military aircraft factory in Akron, Ohio. She met her husband, Homer J. Tennant, in 1934 when both were high school students. They married in 1943 in Phillippi, W. Va. That began their military life of 22 years in six different states. Four of those states were blessed with a new child. Arriving first was David in Arizona, next Jarrett in Texas, than Shirin in Mississippi, and finally Bruce in West Virginia.
They arrived in Lompoc in 1959 when Homer was stationed at Vandenberg Air Force Base. Teena was busy raising her children and was also involved with Little League, Cub Scouts, PTA, and the Alpha Club. In 1972, they moved to Solvang where Teena enjoyed gardening and walking with her friends Sara, Mae, and Norma. During this time, Homer and Teena began their travels to 70th Fighter Squadron reunions in many states where Teena fondly reminisced with other wives about their names being on their husbands' fighter planes. Teena's greatest joy was being "Nana" to her grandchildren and great-grandchild. She was often spoiling them with special gifts and enjoyed taking them to the park to play.
Teena peacefully passed away on May 8, 2004, at Lompoc Hospital.
Teena is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lt. Col. Homer J. Tennant; sisters Ruth Storey and Loretta Moore, of Fairview, W. Va.; children David Tennant (Carol), Jarrett Tennant (Margaret), Shirin Reed (Jim), and Bruce Tennant, of Bailey, CO.; grandchildren, Lindsay Gonzales (Lorenzo), Lincoln Reed, Jenny and Markie Daniel, Nicole, Tori, and R.J. Tennant; and great grand-daughter, Ruby Gonzales.
To honor her friend Sara, Teena frequently donated to the Alzheimer's Association and Lompoc Valley Haven, 2800 Harris Grade Road, Lompoc, CA 93436.
