Jeffery L. Burton

Jeffery Lynn Burton, 58, of Flat Rock, passed away on Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Kindred Hospital South in Greenwood.

Born July 26, 1952, in Bartholomew County, he was the son of Van Burton and Elizabeth Burton Campbell. He married Barbara Gore on June 19, 1971, and she survives.

Other survivors include son, Jason Robert (Sara) Burton of Nineveh; daughter, Jerilyn Kay Burton of Flat Rock; his mother (husband, Walter Campbell); brothers, Jimmy (Marilyn) Burton of Edinburgh, Jackie Burton of Taylorsville and Jerry Burton and Johnny Burton, both of Franklin; and sisters, Judy (Gene) Coy of Edinburgh and Julie Ford of Franklin.

He was preceded in death by his father and a brother, James Wesley Burton.

Mr. Burton retired in 1999 from Quick Way Trucking due to health reasons and had formerly been employed by Sap's Bakery in Columbus and ran a body shop at his home for years.

He was a member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church.

Jeffery loved NASCAR, fishing and old cars.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Eskew-Eaton Funeral Home, 302 E. Main Cross St. in Edinburgh and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at Mount Gilead Baptist Church, 4449 S. Smithland Road.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Bryan Trotter officiating.

Burial will be in Miller Cemetery in Shelby County.
