17th Montréal Mayor. Born in Yamachiche, Québec, he studied at the college of Nicolet from 1848 to 1856, then went in Montreal for his Law studies. He was admitted to the bar of Lower-Canada on June 6, 1859. Businessman, he became a real-estate investor. He was the person in charge for the sending of the contingents of Canadian zouaves in Rome. He was Commisioner of the Bridge of Montreal from 1879 to 1881. He was alderman of the Saint-Jacques district in Montreal from 1870 to 1879. He act as President of the Committee of the Lighting from 1871 to 1875, then of Committee of the Fires from 1876 to 1878. He was the Mayor of Montreal from 1879 to 1881. He was named to the Legislative Council for the Division of Alma on October 19, 1886. In that House, he supported the Conservative Party. He died in function in Montreal, on February 4, 1888.
