FERD BAILEY, 70, CALLED BY DEATH
Ferd W. Bailey died at his home in Noble township, one and one-half miles south of Waldron, at 10:05 Wednesday night [March 14], following a ten days' serious illness, due to complications. He had been in failing health for the past two years.
Mr. Bailey was born in Noble township, Shelby county, October 23, 1863, the son of Nicholas and Ellen Bailey, and he was, at the time of death, 70 years, 4 months and 19 days old. In November 1882, he was married to Nannie Templeton, who preceded him in death May 4, 1913. To this union four children, three of whom survive, were born.
In February 1915, Mr. Bailey was again married to Mrs. Ella C. (Coers) Redenbough, who survives. He had been a resident of Shelby county all his life and was a member of the Waldron M.E. Church.
Surviving with the widow, Mrs. Ella Bailey, are one daughter, Mrs. Lena Shafer, of Noblesville; two sons, Fred and Lloyd Bailey, of Adams township, Decatur county; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Laura Templeton, of Henry county; four brothers, Wright Bailey, of Waldron, Van, of Flat Rock, Warren, of Union township, and Curtis, of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the late home, south of Waldron, Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev. Lovell, Waldron M.E. church, will officiate, with the Rev. B.C. Tryon, St.Paul M.E. church, assisting. Burial will be in the family lot in the Van Pelt cemetery, in charge of C.F. Fix & Son, funeral directors. Friends may call at the late home at any time and they are kindly asked to omit flowers.
