Rev. Fr. Josphe Rempe was the son of Carl Charles Rempe (1828-1884) and Theresia (Vuliers) Rempe (1829-1872. He immigrated to the U.S. in 1884 and was ordained on December 17, 1887 in the Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago. In December 1947 he celebrated the sixtieth anniversary of his ordination to the priest hood. In 1904 he was appointed the first resident pastor of St. Peter Church in Volo and served until 1911. He also served in Lima, Sublet, Steger, Richton Park and Lockport. His final parish was St. Margaret and Mary Catholic Church in Herscher where he served for 27 years.
