Services for a former longtime Valley View resident, Thomas Ralph Couch, 74, of Denton, were held today in the Vernie Keel Funeral Home. Will Weatherbee, Valley View Church of Christ minister, officiated, followed by burial in Valley View Cemetery.
Couch died Wednesday night in Baylor Hospital in Dallas. He sold the Valley View National Bank and retired in 1970 after being associated with the institution for 38 years. He was honorary chairman of the board of the bank and also served as school tax assessor-collector for 31 years.
He was a partner in Couch Oil Co., a director of the Valley View Cemetery Board and a member of the Upper Elm Red Soil & water Conservation District. He had resided in Denton since 1974.
Survivors are his wife, Claudene; one son, Kenneth Couch of Dallas; two daughters, Mildred Seyer of Valley View and Barbara Turner of Gainesville; three brothers, Ernest Couch of Gainesville, Joe couch of Valley View and Clyde Couch of Denton; three sisters, Maude Garrison and Ruth Cook of Fort Worth and Annie McNeill of Ennis; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
