Told by Mrs. E. S. Carter: Her mother died at her birth. Hollis and Inez Lee took her in to raise her and loved her as if she was their own. One day, during some work that was being done to put in a well, she slipped out of the house when nobody was looking. Out on her own, she fell down into the well and died.
However, a newsclipping has been added to the photos which states the story a little differently. What we do know is some sort of construction was being done, probably a well or septic tank.
