Walter W. Chappell, 84, of Albion, died at 9:40 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 1996.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Ingram Funeral Home in Albion, with Rev. Kirk Rowe officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Chappell was born June 3, 1912, in Edwards County, the son of Perry Austin and Sarah (Elliott) Chappell. He married Myrtle Thompson Oct. 29, 1938, in Albion. She survives.

He was a farmer, worked for the state of Illinois highway department, worked in the Albion brickyard and was a farmhand for Frank Fieber.

He is survived by two daughters, Norma Goodson, of Mt. Carmel, and Ramona McCorkle, of Albion; two sisters, Marjorie Chalcraft, of Albion, and Beulah Kinchole, of Mt. Erie; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Loren, Prince, Walace, Gilbert, Rolla, and an infant, Phillip, four sisters, Amy Nelson, Carrie Edwards, Francis Chalcraft, and infant Olive.
