He was born on December 23, 1885, in Rockhill Furnace, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Book.
He was married three times. The first union was to Mary Cummins, the second to Martha Grove and the then to Mrs. Anna Caldwell Moore. The first two wives preceded him in death, and he is survived by his third wife.
In early life he was engaged in farming and later worked at the North American Refractories Company in Mount Union. He was also employed at the Letterkenny Ordnance Depot at Chambersburg.
Surviving are three children to the first marriage, James Book and Mrs. Clara Whitsel, both of Shirleysburg, R.D., and Coyle Book of Baltimore, Md., one son to the second union, Glenn Book of Mount Union, two brothers, Raymond Book of Youngwood and Isaac Book of Florida, and ten grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Ott’s funeral home in Orbisonia with the Rev. Theodore Bowers of the Three Springs Evangelical United Brethren Church officiating. Interment was made in the Monroe Cemetery in Cromwell Township.
