Canadian politician. Born in Rivière-Ouelle (Québec), on December 4, 1846. He studied at the College of Sainte-Anne-at-the-Pocatière from 1859 to 1863. He was admitted to the practice of notariat on March 4, 1869. In this capacity, he worked first in Rivière-Ouelle, then in Québec. He acted as secretary-treasurer of the Rovière-Ouelle School Board from July 22, 1872 to December 9, 1890, then of the town council. He worked as appraiser of the Intercolonial railroad company for the St. Lawrence division, from June 1874 to March 1878 and was commissioner in charge of receiving affidavits relating to the accidents or maritime catastrophes, from 1874 to 1878. He took part in the foundation of the newspaper “L’Électeur” and was its editor until 1881. He was involved in the editorial boards of various newspapers like the “Nouvelles Soirées canadiennes”, “La Kermesse”, the “Bibliothèque internationale de l'Alliance scientifique universelle”, “Le Courrier du Canada”, “ l'Enseignement primaire”, “ LesNoces d'or,”, “La Revue canadienne” and “La Voix du patriotisme”. He was elected to the Legislative Assembly as the Liberal representative for the district of Kamouraska in 1878. He was re-elected in 1881, but his election was cancelled by the Superior Court on January 5, 1883. He was re-elected anyway at the by-election of January 30, 1883 and at the general election of 1886 and at the by-election of February 12, 1887. He was nominated Secretary and Registrary of the Province in the Mercier cabinet from January 29, 1887 to May 9, 1890. He did not represent himself in 1890. He acted as Sheriff of the district of Québec from May 9, 1890 to June 11, 1901. He was President of the professional order of notaries from 1885 to 1890. He died in Québec on June 11, 1901.
