Nicholas Green was born in Canich, Luxembourg and came to the United States at an early age and settled in Washington township. In 1863 he was married to Elizabeth Loes. They farmed in the Washington township for over 34 years and was successful in his agricultural pursuits. Nicholas died after a lingering illness. A few years before death, he suffered a sunstroke from which he never fully recovered and was in poor health for sometime not able to do much around the farm. Elizabeth died the previous November and upon his death, they leave behind 13 children.
