BORGES Alzira Lopes Borges, age 81, of Monroe, entered into eternal rest suddenly on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at St. Vincent Medical Center, Bridgeport. Born in New Bedford, Mass. She was a Bridgeport resident most of her life moving to Monroe five years ago. She was a retired employee of the Bridgeport Fittings Co. Alzira dedicated her life to her husband, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family and friends and will be sadly missed by all. Survivors include her beloved husband, Antonio Borges, her loving children, John L. Borges and wife, Patricia of Oxford, Antonio J. Borges and wife, Robin of Florida and Nancy Borges Esteves and husband, Manuel of Monroe; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Ana L. Pereira and husband Jose of Portuga;l and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two children, Daniel and Clara, two sisters, Helena L. Sousa and Maria L. Sousa, two brothers, Daniel and Jose Lopes. Friends are invited to attend the funeral on Wednesday February 13, 2008 at 8 a.m. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home, 559 Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, and at 9 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church with a Mass of the Christian Burial. Interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may call on Tuesday from 5 to 8 P.M. in the Parente-Lauro Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requested donation may be made to the American Diabetes Association 306 Industrial Park Rd. Suite 105 Middletown, CT 06457 in memory of Alzira.
