Funeral services over the remains of the late Hon Albert Berg former Secretary of State were held from the Center City chapel last Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 pm Rev Schuch of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St Paul, officiating. The services were of an unusually impressive order and were carried out in accordance with the wishes of the departed. Rev Schuch, who was Mr. Berg's pastor during the years of his residence in St Paul, chose for his text the Forty- Second verse of the Twenty second Chapter of Lake saying. "Father if thou be willing, remove this cup from me; nevertheless not my will, but Thine be done" Centering his thoughts on the great test to which Christ submitted in the garden of Gethsemane, the speaker dwelt at length upon the "Gethsemane that enters into every ones life and the great importance of placing one's faith in the good master, Rev Schuch spoke with considerable feeling and briefly revealed his great esteem and love of the departed one whom for years had listened to his sermons. After concluding his remarks, Rev Schuch, who possess a fine voice sang, "face to Face" after the rendition of which, he called on Rev C E Slatt, who offered a few remarks, in the Swedish language, Rev L P Bergstrom and old time friend and comrade of Mr. Berg's, then related a few incidents in the life of the departed and touched feelingly upon the tender love the departed one cherished for his aged mother, who, on account of infirmity and feebleness, was prevented from being present at the funeral. Rev Bergstrom who is a trained signer, since his university days in his native land, also contributed a beautiful selection, making it altogether a very beautiful and impressive funeral service. The Chisago Lake Male Chorus rendered most beautifully "Lead Kindly Light" and "Du som veridan has till rike" under the direction of Paul Bloom. The Chapel was filled with scores of old time friends, some very warm hearted friends too, of the departed, who came to pay one last tribute and look at the peaceful countenance of the large hearted and sunny natured friend of days gone by.
The floral contributions were among the most beautiful that we have ever seen in this community.

It si with a heart full of sadness that we are called upon at this time to pay one last little tribute to our life long friend, Albert Berg, who passed into his eternal rest at Mounds Park Sanatorium, Saint Paul, last Friday morning at 3:10 as a result of an attack of pneumonia and generally impaired health and about two years ago, confided to us, that he believed his health to be failing rapidly. We noticed then that it was not the same Albert Berg of long ago and yet when he burst out one of hearty and characteristic peals of laughter, which was to say the least contagious with an inspiring good will and joviality, we felt that his good, big heart was still brim full of resplendant warmth of old time comradeship and friendship. Who among the old time commradeship of friendship.
Those among the old timers here will remember the tall and stately figure with the stentorian voice and that good natured laughter that sent a thrill of good among all those who gathered about him.

His songs in the old church and on the greensward of the County Court House will long live in memory of his friends and admirers in this community and if he had some faults, we would say that we would readily forget these of his many fine, manly and loyal traits as a man and as a friend.

Albert Berg was large hearted, tolerant and broad minded and would never stoop or pay any attention to the little bickerings of life. He was too big a man for that. In his early years, Albert Berg loved to sing and possessed a magnificent second bass voice, many claiming to this very day that he virtually sang
