Katherine Geiger, 93, Mandan, died Sept. 8, 2005, at her home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 12, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Mandan, with the Rev. Albert Leary officiating. Burial will be in Mandan Union Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Buehler-Larson Funeral Home, Mandan, where a Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. followed by a parish vigil. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the mass at the church on Monday.

Katherine was born Jan. 3, 1912, in rural Morton County, the daughter of Frank and Margaret (Gress) Boehm. Raised on the family farm, she married Ralph Geiger Aug. 7, 1934, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Mandan. They farmed northwest of Mandan until moving to Mandan in 1989.

A woman of very strong character and faith, she was particularly well known for her hospitality to all, family, friends and strangers alike. She was an excellent cook, noted for her homemade bread, German specialties and most of all, her spring cream chicken. For many years, she made six pies every Saturday. No one could leave her home without eating something. Katherine worked side by side with Ralph on the farm and raising their family.

She loved to dress up in her best for special occasions such as wedding dances.

She was able to live in her own home, without assistance, until November of last year, when she moved to a hospice care home.

She will be deeply missed by those who survive her, including her daughters and sons-in-law, Regina and Ron Pulkrabek and Kathleen and John Boehm, all of Mandan; her sons and daughters-in-law, Emanuel and Bernice, Donald and Marlene, James R. and Linda and Nerina Geiger, all of Mandan; 31 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Julia Koeppe, Seattle, Rosemary and Bert Wellington, Seaside, Ore., and Joe Gomache, Seattle; two brothers and five sisters-in-law, Anton and Rita Boehm, Seattle, Jacob and Delores Boehm, Copalis Beach, Wash., Mary Boehm, Orting, Wash., Virginia Boehm, Prescott, Ariz., and Alice Boehm, Bakersfield, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph, who died June 22, 1996; six grandchildren, Jolene, Nicholas, Susan, Lenora and Donald Jr. Geiger and Raine Pulkrabek; three great-grandchildren, Courtney Smith and Skyler and Nicholas Geiger; two sons, Eugene and Edmund; three infant daughters, Marianne, Paulette and Katherine; one sister, Eva Gomache; and four brothers, Adam, George, John and Daniel.
