James was the son of William Arthur and Sallie (Minchew) Strength. He married Theresa Fenter and they were the parents of one son: Ricky Lynn.

FORT WORTH - James Pickett Strength, 79, a retiree, died Friday, Sept. 29, 2006, in Fort Worth.
Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday, Laurel Land Memorial Chapel. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Laurel Land Funeral Home of Fort Worth.
James was born Dec. 17, 1926, in Milford to Roger and Sallie Minchew Strength. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, having participated in three invasions in the South Pacific.
James was a longtime member of Travis Avenue Baptist Church, where he served as an usher for over 40 years. He was also a member of the Panther City Masonic Lodge and Moslah Shrine Temple. James retired from Thomas S. Byrnes Inc.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Sidney and Travis.
Survivors: His wife of 54 years, Theresa; son, Rick of Fort Worth; sisters, LaVerne Henson of Fort Worth and Wilma Reed of Everman; brother, Jimmie Strength of Burleson; and a number of nieces and nephews.
