She was preceded in death by her parents, Mel and Hattie Proffitt; and her brother, John Robert Proffitt.
Mrs. Evans is survived by her husband, Russell Lee Evans Jr. of Lovingston; two daughters, Dr. Charlotte Evans of Manassas and Ms. Carolynn Thomason of Cary, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Jenna Conner-Harris of Fredericksburg, Page Meador of Manassas, Drew Severson of Lovingston, and Bryan Thomason of Cary, North Carolina; one great-grandchild, Aidan Conner Harris of Fredericksburg; her sister, Frances Harvey of Charlottesville; her sister-in-law, Katherine Proffitt of South Hill; her niece, Vickie Harvey Adkins of Earlysville; and her nephews, Robert Proffitt of South Hill and Garth Proffitt of Boydton.
Funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, August 7, 2011, at Oak Hill Baptist Church in Lovingston with the Reverend Bryan Painter officiating. Interment will follow at the Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the reception hall of Oak Hill Baptist Church following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests making contributions to Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 248 Davis Creek Lane, Lovingston, VA 22949.
